Mark and all,
  There are presently two species known by the common name Lion's Paw.
Nodipecten nodosus (Linne', 1758) known from the lower Caribbean and
Nodipecten fragosus (Conrad, 1849) from the Florida and upper Caribbean. Don't
want to go into actual geographics. Then, of course, there are the two western
species of "Lion's Paws" Nodipecten arthriticus (Reeve, 1853) and Nodipecten
subnodosus  (Sowerby, 1835) or you might mean Nodipecten corallinoides
(d'Orbigny, 1834) The African Lion's Paw. Which one were you meaning again????
