I was on New Providence Island in the Bahamas last week and now I have two
problem shells to ID. I found a huge number of auger-like shells dead in a
few inches of water on the south side of Lake Cunningham, which I presume is
freshwater.. I say "auger-like" but the aperture is like an ice cream
scoop. They're about 3 cm long. I also found a small (3-4 mm) land snail
with a very large a aperture more than half the shell length long on shrubs
and trees where I was also finding Polygyra, Drymaeus, and Zachrysia
provisoria. Do these descriptions ring any bells?
