Hi all---

Another consideration for this discussion. Last year at COA, Hank Chaney
discussed this problem and recommended using silicone-based oil rather
than mineral oil. Chuck has been using LPS heavy-duty silicone lubricant
and is very pleased with the results. This is a spray can, so he sprays
some into a small cup and applies it with a brush. Because silicone oil
is not sticky like mineral oil, it does not have to be cut. Also,
because it is not carbon based, it will not break down with time.

I guess only time will tell what the long-term effect on the shells will
be. The immediate result is a more satiny, less shiny finish and perhaps
the permanancy of a silicon coating.
