Jackie:

Many thanks for your interest in the WSM and its student grant program. I
have reviewed at your sons web site and it is difficult to determine if he
qualifies for a grant or not. Based on the fact that he graduates in
June/July and that WSM awards will not be available until June, it would
seem that he would not require financial assistance. Please review the
eligibility requirements below once again to determine whether or not he is
qualified.

>ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be a full time student in a formal graduate or
>undergraduate degree program. There are no citizenship or affiliation
>restrictions and students from all countries are eligible. The thesis,
>dissertation, or research project must be focused primarily on the
>systematics, biology, ecology, physiology, biochemistry, or paleontology
of >marine, terrestrial, or freshwater mollusks. Research currently in
progress or >beginning in the 2002-2003 academic year will be considered.

Because competition for available funds will be stringent (ie., ALL of the
eligibility requirements must be adhered to), please be sure that these
requirements are met by your sons research prior to applying. Please let
me know if you have any additional questions.

Sincerely,

Lindsey T. Groves
