My name is Keri Shingleton and I work at the Tulsa Zoo.  We have
recently
opened a new facility at the zoo called "Nature Exchange".  In our
facility,
we encourage students of all ages to bring their natural treasures in to
trade.  We trade in objects and knowledge.  A student who comes in with
knowledge of his or her object is awarded a higher point value for trade
than one who brings in an item they know nothing about.

Obviously, shells are natural objects, and we have a large stock of
common
shells.  I get nervous, however, when a student brings  a shell to
trade in.
Nothing in my background (my PhD is in evolution with an emphasis in
entomology) has given me any knowledge about shells!  I hope this list
serve
can help to educate me!

The other staff members I work with may also use this listserve, from
the
same e-mail address.  Chris Young and Barbara Grimm are their names.

Thank you all in advance for sharing your knowledge with us.  I hope we
are
able to pass all we learn on to young students in our area.
