Hello, CONCH-L!

For that white porous material that is NOT part of the shells, a Dremel moto tool with a fine bit - you can buy ones with a fine, diamond impregnated point at Home Depot and I think Lowe's - and a nice light touch, so as to not grind off the shell too will save a lot of hard, tedious work. Wear protective eye glasses, work outside where the wind can blow the dust away from you, or wear a dust mask if you work inside.

Cordially,
Linda
