I have had a couple of X. pallidula each with a land snail attached. One
with a small bone. One with a piece of wood. One with a Terebra, the other
end of which was attached to a broken-off section of another Xenophora. But
my favorite was the specimen with the built-in locality data. It had
attached a piece of brown glass, across which a single word was clearly
printed in white letters - "Philippines". A friend who doesn't know much
about shells but is knowledgeable concerning potent potables identified the
attachment as a piece of a San Miguel Beer bottle.
