Hello,
I have a question for the Cypraea experts among us. In my collection I have a specimen of
Pustularia globulus from near Punta Engano, Cebu Island, Philippines. It was found in sand under
coral rubble, in shallow water. The shell is 18mm in length. I located a detailed table
distinguishing features of Pustularia species on Felix Lorenz's web site and found my specimen to
basically look like the nominate subspecies, but have very dark basal blotches characteristic of
globulus sphaeridium. But globulus sphaeridium is said to be limited to Melanesia. What features
definitively separate globulus globulus from globulus sphaeridium? Is it possible for globulus
sphaeridium to occur in the Philippines? Any assistance you can provide will be greatly
appreciated. Thank you in advance and I'll look forward to hearing from you soon. :)
Sincerely,
Tim Blackwood
