I overlooked the request for dead shells in that last reply, ignore all
said .
Find dead shells in city landfills,  usually at the downwind end of the
small town . another spot to find them is at scallop dumps (usually the same
place as the landfill) , scallop dumps are very difficult to find since most
of the worlds scallop industry has collapsed and many scallops consumed are
either farm grown or are taken from pen shells. hope this helps and please
