The question was originally asked by a non shell collector. Now who was he
supposed to know the latin genus for a conch or a whelk.
Latin Names are usually only known by persons that are involved in the
scientific community regardless of whether or not they are amature or
professional. If I asked a kid what the genus of a Strombus gigas was he
would mostly respond to me "whats a genus" or "my dad/mom/sister/brother/
doesnt do that" when asked about family. Believe me I know.
