GOOOOOD morning to all other Conch-lers
First of all many thanks to Riccardo, Gary and John Wolff for the info
about Haustrum. The final result was Haustrum 2 x 1 Purpura and I'll keep
Haustrum in my shell database as a valid genus. This 2x1 was a tight final.
As tight as the loss of my beloved Packers yesterday (yes, there is a
cheese head in Brazil; Kim did you go to the game?). AAARGHH!!!! Never
mind, next year we'll be back!

I have another question to the experts. There are, among others, two well
known Volutidae species in Brazil: Adelomelon brasiliana and Odontocymbiola
americana.

These names are found in Abbott's Compendium and in Rios' Seashells of
Brazil. Rios also list Adelomelon brasiliana under Pachycymbiola, but as a
subgenus.

Poppe & Goto raise Pachycymbiola to a valid genus. So, for them Adelomelon
brasiliana becomes Pachycymbiola brasiliana. The same name is found in the
La Conchiglia Annuario 1997 "Doute's Collection".

Pope & Goto also list in their book Odontocymbiola americana as Adelomelon
americana. As far as I know Adelomelon and Odontocymbiola are quite
different genus and it sounds very strange for me this kind of
classification. The same Adelomelon americana classification appears in the
Annuario 1997, giving me some (other) nots in my brain.

What is the correct classification for these two species?

Cheers,
Eduardo Moreira
