Manatee County restricts live shell collecting to two per species per day
(sand dollars included of course). However, I've never seen anyone look
like enforcing it! This was one of those crazy bans looked for by a mayor
(who also was hoping for beach renourishment) who wanted no live collecting
so there would be more shells available to die and wash up on the beach! No
one even mentioned the costs of publicizing or enforcing it. A group of us
at least got it changed to two rather than none.
