Hi,

This is probably the oldest shell question in the world, but I'm giving a
program to 4th graders tomorrow and I know they'll expect a reasonably
intelligent answer.

Why do we hear "the ocean" when we put a shell up to our ear? Is it the air
inside the shell vibrating on our eardrum?

Would appreciate a response.

Thanks,

Carol
