James,
Values (of any commodity) are generally set by balancing supply
against demand.  If there is no demand for something (nobody wants it
at any price), then it has no value.  Likewise, if there is no supply,
then it is meaningless to set a value, even if the demand is high.
That's the situation with the green snail.
