Although Urosalpinx cinerea does tend toward the medium gray color for which
it was named (cinereous = ash-colored), it is actually much more variable than
most books indicate.  Exterior color can range from light gray to very dark,
almost black, sometimes brownish or tan, and occasionally pure white.
Interiors may be dark or light violet, brown, tan, or peach colored.  Many of
them are banded.  The bands may be darker or lighter than the ground color.
