It has been a source of amazement to me that more shellers haven't clued in to the fact that they can sell any shell at all to any collector in the world, via the eBay auction site (http://www.ebay.com/) !! (not that this would make dealers obsolete, but it could by-pass them sometimes!). I have long been planning an experimental eBay auction, and have finally done it. There are 17 items (mostly medium+ ticket, from $20 to $300, to get some loot for my big trip to California!!) of mine there now, which one can find by typing "Schooner SS" into the search box - simple, eh?? Bidding is easy, but you must register first, which takes a few minutes - then you become a part of the "eBay Community"!!

Selling things on the eBay Beastie is a bit tricky the first couple of times, but once you get the hang of it, not so tough. The most important thing i found out (by trial and error mostly!!) is that the "description" field input is actually the SOURCE for a little HTML page that you can do right there on the form, using standard HTML tags, OR you can simply refer people (via a link) to a page you have on your own site, to save loading the thing every time you just want to check up on the bidding. (this is what i did). Of course, you do NOT have to know HTML in order use the site on a basic level - only if you want to do anything "fancy". There are a multitude of "help" pages and live-time bulliten boards and such, so if you run into a problem, a little searching will nearly always find the answer.

So, i hope to see some of you at the auction, and given all the commercial activity on the list in the past couple of days, i am not ashamed to also invite people to come over to my site (Http://www.schnr-specimen-shells.com), which has been "remodelled", Java errors found and fixed, added to, etc......

Still Crazy in Canada,
Ross M.
