THIS is my unexpected shark story: A long time ago (on a distant planet,
it would seem) I lived on Catalina Island, a lovely place where you can
see to great depths in the clear ocean. So we went spear-fishing. In my
whole entire life I never caught anything on a spear. But this time I
was down, the spear was properly loaded and I was right on top of a
sand-shark. Wham! I got that sucker right in the middle. Then I hauled
up and as I grabbed the spear, I got shot clean out of the water myself.
I frizzled all over. By the rope, we got the "shark" to the beach. No
one ever told me there was such a thing as an Electric Ray. I thought
they were all Eels and lived in South America. Even on the beach, no one
wanted to get too close. Me? I just slinkered off----
