Second Announcement
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON
CROP MODELING AND DECISION SUPPORT
ISCMDS 2008
April 19-22, 2008 Nanjing, China

Theme
Crop modeling and decision tools are increasingly
affecting agriculture. Various forms of
information technology are being adopted in
agriculture as technology advances. The main goal
of this symposium is to exchange the
state-of-the-science of current modeling and
simulation approaches and discuss future
directions needed for advancement. A second goal
is to explore opportunities for team
collaboration and information exchange on crop
modeling and decision support leading to on-farm
applications, such as precision and prescription
farming, and modernization of agricultural production processes.

Main Subjects
l Crop and soil process modeling
l Crop productivity modeling
l Crop quality modeling
l Crop architectural modeling
l Crop simulation model and module development
l Experimentation for model evaluation
l Model-based decision support systems (DSS)
l Applications of crop models and DSS
l Integration of crop models with other information technologies

Presentations and Publications

Invited plenary presentations will highlight
areas of current interests and state-of-the-art
activities in crop modeling. Contributed papers
will be presented either in oral or poster
sessions, as determined by the Program Committee.
Symposium language is English. The invited talks,
oral presentations, and selected poster
presentations, after peer review, will be
published in a book following the symposium. A
limited number of quality papers will be
submitted as a group to a journal for publication
following normal journal publishing requirements.

Submission of Abstracts and Papers

Authors are invited to submit a one page abstract
no later than 31 December 2007. Formatting
information is available on the website listed
below. Abstracts should clearly show the
originality of the work and relevance to the
scope of the symposium. Abstracts will be
reviewed by the Program Committee, and selected
abstracts will be invited to be published as a
full paper by 31 Jan 2008. Full papers should be
submitted by March 31, 2008 for Proceedings CD.
