Can anyone give-me some hints on the following: (literaure
references welcome):
 
        1-Easy way of modelling root growth and water uptake in the so
called functional (capacity) models
        2-What is the importance of the size(depth) and number of soil
compartments to be considered?; do they have to be same size necessaily?
What if one wants to reproduce a situation of a soil profile with 3
layers(horizons) of different texture and size? (Eg. Horiz A-20cm; B-40cm,
C-60cm), Will this be acceptable in a capacity type of model?
