Richard Salisbury is not a member of CONCH-L but has been part of the
recent discussion about V. moniliferum. He has written or co-authored
many articles and papers about mitriforms and has been my mitriform guru
for decades. I find his knowledge of mitriforms and visual memory to be
phenomenal. He has asked me to forward the following to CONCH-L :
I have attached images of the holotype of Pusia epiphanea Rehder, 1943.
Images I took and recent images from USNM website.
I have never seen a specimen of this species from Florida. Specimens identified as that species from Florida are dark brown to light
brown in color not matching the holotype color at all.
I did find 3 specimens of a Vexillum similar to the holotype of Pusia epiphanea Rehder, 1943. I wondered if any of the collectors
have seen similar specimens from Bermuda?
Sincerely Yours, Richard Salisbury
I have uploaded his images to my Dropbox at
