I don't know, but I wonder if Tudora is from tudes, latin for hammer.
Tudicula and Tudivasum are from that root. Of course those shells look
somewhat like a hammer. Tudora doesn't. But I'm wondering if tudora might
mean something like malleatus - having a malleate or "hammered" appearance??
Just a thought.
Also, could it be named after someone named Tudor?
eccrit might be from ec kritos, Greek, meaning set apart, notable, select.
