There should be nothing in dolomite to harm snails. It has been used as
aquarium substrate for marine aquariums for years because it helps
maintain the desired PH in the tank (too alkaline for most freshwater
tanks). However that is not to say land snails can metabolize dolomite
to use in shell building. Eggshells, chalk, and cuttlefish bone all seem
to be better answers because they are softer and just might be easier for
the animal to use.
I've never kept a live snail, maybe I'll give it a go to see what
happens.
