The family Turbinellidae is a very diverse group, including quite a few
different genera (Turbinella, Vasum, Afer, Tudicla, Tudicula, Columbarium,
Benthovoluta, Latiromitra, etc.), and in my opinion quite a few genera and
species of questionable classification. However, the genus Turbinella
itself - the true "chank shells" - is a small group - only about a half
dozen species.
