Dear Andrew
I used to bid on this site, but only on European sellers's lists, and
things run pretty well.
I noticed the poor data of many seashells that are offered by some
dealers, and never tried to get one thing from them.
Myself, I sale on this site and always try to provide the best
information for each item, even the tiniest.
It occured once that I sent the wrong shells with wrong data to a
bidder; he kept the shells, I sent the money back, and everyone is happy.
I suggest you buy seashells only if the dealer has a serious behaviour
(and not only a good feedback page).
A rule, nevertheless, is good for you: people send shells only when
money is received.
If they send shells, you have the right to keep them.
But, in order to keep conscience quiet, send the shells back... or just
the half of them (in order to "share" the loss); then forget this event,
and try an other dealer.
