I would recommend the following paper for information on donating
collections to museums-
CHAPTER 14: DONATING AMATEUR COLLECTIONS TO MUSEUMS
Timothy A. Pearce in C. F. Sturm, T. A. Pearce, and A. Valdés. (Eds.)
2006. The Mollusks: A Guide to Their Study, Collection, and Preservation.
American Malacological Society and Universal Publications.
For those who are interested in the deeper technical, legal, and
philosophical issue of putting values on objects in natural history
collections (museums for example) I would recommend The Value and
Valuation of Natural History Collections edited by John R. Nudds and
Charles W. Pettitt. 1997. The Geological Society, London. 276 pp.
This book is divided into four sections dealing with the scientific,
cultural, and financial values of collections. The last section deals with
miscellaneous papers that were presented at the meeting that this book was
derived from.
Regards,
Charlie
