>I found a slew of Truncatella (sp?) that surprised a few people.
If you found the Truncatella actually living in crevices in the coral rubble
in the Florida Keys, they are probably Truncatella clathrus, which has been
incorrectly synonymized with Truncatella scalaris, which is restricted to
the Caribbean (and possibly to Jamaica). If they were in cast up mats of
marine grass, they are Truncatella pulchella or Truncatella caribaeensis.
All three species can be collected side by side at the interface of the mats
and the coral rubble.
