Dear all,
I am making a list of worldwide Patellidae, and there are a few names that
I am stuck with:
caerulea, Patella Linnaeus, 1758 Mediterranean - is this actually a valid
species or a synonym?
dira, Scutellastra (Reeve, 1855) Pacific - does anyone know more about
this species?
exusta, Scutellastra (Reeve, 1854) Indian Ocean Seychelles - where else
does this occur?
luchuana, Scutellastra (Pilsbry, 1901) Japan - surely a synonym of
somthing else, but what?
optima, Scutellastra (Pilsbry, 1927 or 1907?) Japan - 1907 or 1927?
picta, Patella Jeffreys, 1868 Azores, Canaries - no doubt also a synonym
of something, but what?
servaini, Patella Mabille, 1888 Europe - same as above?
stellaeformis, Scutellastra (Reeve, 1842) Indo Pacific - anyone else know
more about this species?
tucopiana, Scutellastra Powell, 1925 Indo Pacific - not a New Zealand
species, but presumably from Pacific Islands?
vidua, Scutellastra (Reeve, 1854) Indo Pacific - anyone know more about this?
vulgata, Patella Linnaeus, 1758 Atlantic N. Norway to Gibraltar - one
publication says it's synonymous with P. ulyssiponensis. Is this indeed the
latest view?
Any help would be most appreciated!
Patty
