Okay-

I agree that we shell collectors should be using
scientific names, BUT...when trying to communicate with
the non-shelling public, you had beeter know the local
common name if you want to get information on collecting
sites from them.  How many non-shellers in Florida would
look at you in consternation if you asked them where you
could find a Triplofusus gigantea?  A few might recognize
Pleuroploca gigantea.

We have to be able to wear two hats to get around the
world as we shell.
