I was recently asked if "Top Shells" were normally found in Arkansas.
I, of course, smiled and replied that they are normally found a little
closer to a marine environment. Well as it turns out this individual's
mother had been digging in the backyard in Northern Arkansas and found a
"shell" under a large rock about 2-3 feet deep. They sent pictures of
the shell which measures about 70 mm high and 64 mm wide at the base.
Anyone care to take a stab at identifying this mystery shell? I will be
glad to send the pictures.
Thanks,
Steven Coker
