Just a note on the availability of dissertations, I have been able to obtain
a couple I needed for research on the Neritidae through UMI. This company
has just about every doctoral dissertation published in North America since
1861 (their claim). The expense is not too bad and it is the only way I
know to get such products - unless like Andrew you know the individual
involved. Of course, it is then up to the reader to determine the worth of
the product - but I have found that to also be true of scientific papers.
