CITES is not an investigatory institution and there is no way they would legally take any shells
from you.

Several shells listed there are not really in danger. They already removed some shells from the list
as Charonia tritonis.  Even Strombus gigas is consumed in all Caribbean as discussed here several
times, and I don't think any collector would get rid of their shells due to the fact it is listed
there.....
