Meherrin and Nottaway would be VA-NC border; Peedee is a likely NC-SC
border option, as well as being an also-ran for Stephen Foster's
choice of 2 syllable southern river.

Several mussels have anadromous hosts and thus are limited by dams,
just as the hosts are.  Fish passage structures may be a viable
compromise in some cases.
