Hello Conch-Lers,
I'm working on a list to include with the shells that I lend out to schools
and community groups. This is to be a list of "Man's uses of molluscs,
Past, Present and possible Future applications".
I need the names of specific shells and examples of their uses in the
following areas:
1. Food
2. Monetary or trade value
3. Medicinal uses
4. Dyes
5. Art and art forms (e.g. Sailor's valentines, famous works of art)
6. Decoration & examples of uses in architecture
7. Personal adornment
8. Collections
9. Musical instruments or calls
I know there are many more uses than what I have listed here so far. Any
and all help will be greatly appreciated, it's after midnight here now and
if fear I'm suffering from brain burnout.
After I compile this list, I would be more than willing to share it with
anyone interested.
Thank you,
Avril Bourquin [log in to unmask]

Dear Avril,
I have seen in a museum a spoon made of a Achatina landsnail from Western
Africa, so you can include use in toolsin your list.
