Hi Soopy,
Welcome to the conch-L list. You wrote: "I live in Nevada.
There is no place around here to collect shells."
Although Nevada is hot and dry and there may be no marine
shells, I bet there are land snails in the mountains and both
snails and bivalves in the rivers and lakes. This is your chance
to specialize in an area where there are few other specialists,
and have a unique collection. We need to remember that land
and aquatic (freshwater) molluscs are just as interesting as the
marine shells.
