Hi, Art.
 
Not likely that the elephants will grow long hair, they didn't last
time.
 
Despite the fact that wooly mammoths were better adapted to cool
weather, that group is gone -- along with many land mollusks (MRC!) --
and the elephant is still here.
 
Perhaps you've heard of a book named EARTH IN UPHEAVAL by Immanuel
Velikovsky. It's the only one of his books that can be found in the
Science section of the library.
 
Read it and you'll see life on this planet in an entirely different
light. Velikovsky tweaked and filtered and rearranged and, sometimes,
tortured the facts when writing his other works but in this one he
at least gives the facts and observations that led to some of his
less sound publications.
 
Then you'll have an idea about rising and falling water!
