The book represents the first full illustrated catalogue of the marine and
saltishwater gastropod molluscs of the fauna of Russia and the countries of
the former USSR. The examined fauna consists of 1240 taxa of a specific
level, 350 genera and 110 families of the class Gastropoda. For each species
references to the original description, synonymy, type locality, data on
types and the data on distribution in the specified region are given. 1154
species are illustrated, in the majority are given the color photos. The
preference is given to the type specimens for the species described from
examined territory. The bibliography includes 790 references.
