Pomatias, Leonia, and Tudorella are prosobranch land snails
(Littorinoidea, Pomatiidae) from Europe and the Mediterranean region,
cousins of the annularids/annularines that are quite diverse in the
warm parts of the New World.

For sending ethanol preserved material while keeping the Post Office
happy, one approach that works is to thoroughly preserve the specimen
in ethanol (it may be necessary to first freeze the specimen or cut it
open to make sure the ethanol penetrates, as these could potentially
close up with their opercula and not get preserved well if you just
drop a live snail into ethanol). After it is well-preserved, take it
out of the ethanol, wrap it in some ethanol-soaked paper, and put it
in a sealed container, packed not to break. The fumes and residual
ethanol should last long enough for the mail to arrive.
