My main collection is the Oliva's Collection. When I buy
Olives I usally buy 4 or more specimens of each kind to see
their variability. In this way my collection grows very fast
and now I own over 4 thousands specimens.
But some of them are self collected too.
They are arranged by species and by locality and they are
not exposed. I love these shells and all them are scientifically
cataloged.
But I collect also other Families only with esthetic purpose.
My favourite are the Volutes. The larger and colored ones are
placed in glass cabinets only for my eyes' joy !! ( Here the label
with their name is an...optional !)
Maurizio,
from ITALY.

Oggetto: Collection Arrangement
#1. I have a book The Encyclopedia of Shells by Kenneth R. Wye that has a
specific systematic arrangement of taxonomic classification list per se:
would this necessarily be the "order" that a collection should be kept in?
#2. Also, while I have my own "makeshift" arrangement of containers and
displays - I am still having a bit of difficulty trying to house my
collection and really want to acquire a reasonable cabinetry of sorts with
drawers for my collection (inasmuch as I am unable to build my own!).
#3. Just out of "curiosity" - do any of you - just off the top of your heads
- know how many shells (both quantity and specimen count) you currently have?
