Well, Helmut, our mothers have some things in common. My mother also does
not care for perfume. She has all the books she needs, though she does
appreciate a card and flowers now and then. But what she really wants are
rocks. She lives on the Coastal Plain, where rocks are few. On her last
birthday, I brought her a pile of red rocks and put them in the garden where
she wanted them. She was very happy with this gift, and it makes me think
how we should listen to people and not always send them conventional gifts.
I joked about your foraminiferal gift because it was amusing, but it also
touched my heart.

May all mothers get want they want for Mother's Day!
Andy
