Hello:
Seashells are made by the animal that lives inside the hard shell of Calcium
Carbonate.  The animal (Mollusk) extracts the Calcium Carbonate from the
seawater, converts the liquid Calcium Carbonate to solid shell material using
an organ surrounding the body.
