The form of axicornis which I call kawamurai Shikama,1964occurs off Townsville
and extends up the Cape York to Shelburne Bay, . M. axicornis does occur off
Queensland and was reasonably common when trawlers "bottom trawled but since
they now use dangle chains I have not seen the species for years.
