Jenny,
Here comes my help to your phrasebook, if you ever come to a Portuguese
speaking country:
> "Where do the shrimp/lobster/scallop boats dock?"
Onde os camaroneiros (shrimp boats) / lagosteiros (lobster boats) atracam?
Regarding the scallop boats, we do not have them here in Brazil
> "What time is low tide?"
Que horas sera' a mare' baixa?
> "Do you know where to find shells?"
Voce sabe onde posso encontrar conchas(generally bivalves) / buzios
(gastropods) / caracois (land shells)?
> "Does anyone sell shells in this town?"
Alguem vende conchas/buzios/caracois nesta cidade?
> "Is there a dive shop in town?"
Tem alguma operadora de mergulho nesta cidade?
Do you have any other question to be translated?
I would only suggest not to ask about "conchas" in some Spanish speaking
countries in Latin America!! ;-)))))
Just ask for "caracoles"!!! Don't you know why? So, ask Emilio Lopez the
reason!!!
Cheers for all of you,
Eduardo Moreira
