On conch pearls:
I had a friend in Roatan Island, Honduras, who owned a number of Conch
boats. He sent them to Jamaica , the Cayman Islands , Honduras, Nicaragua
and Colombia. And he collected conch pearls. He had over 400, and ranged in
color from almost black to brown to red, pink, orange, yellow and white.
Unfortunately he was killed some 8 years ago and I have no idea what
happened to the collection.
