The change from Cultellidae to Pharidae for Ensis, Cultellus, etc. is based on von Cosel, 1990, in the Brian Morton edited Yonge memorial volume. He identifes Pharus and a variety of other taxa, widely considered tellinoidean, as solenoidean. Pharidae predates Cultellidae, necessitating the name change. DNA data almost address the question (right taxa, wrong genes as of yet).
