You may recall that I appealed to all Conch-L subscribers for assistance in
assembling a referance collection of the subfamily Muricinae. I was very
pleased and grateful for the response, not only for specimens, but for
information on the classification of this list. As a result of the
information which I received, I now find that there are 33 genus/subgenus
on this list, of which I have managed to acquire representative specimens
for 27. I still need the following:-
Murex (Promurex) antelmei - I realise that it is very rare, a photograph
would be useful.
Pterynotus (Ponderia) - calendonicus would seem to be my best option.
Poiriera Panamurex - I do have a fossil form, but I would also like a
living variety, perhaps velero.
Poiriera (Pazinotus) - there are 11 varieties in total all quite rare any
offers would be appreciated.
Dermomurex (Viator) - pasi would seem to be the most common.
If anyone can help me to source any of these specimens I would be most
grateful. Cash or trade - preferably trade, any assistance would be
appreciated.
Stanley Francis,
