WD-40 might just be fine, but when we had an oil spill in our area a few
years ago, we carried a small bottle of baby oil.  It would dissolve the
thick oil which looks like tar, off of your feet, hands, your shells or
your dive booties or anything else, then you can wash with soap and
water.  To take the sticky price label glue off of lucite stands use a
wood furniture cleaner, like endust etc.  We use it all the time.
