My copy arrived today from Amazon and it is fabulous. Bivalves are,
well bivalves unless you see the treatment given in this volume. I mainly
bought this in anticipation of the next volume. I will self collect
bivalves but do not go out of my way otherwise.
This book is excellent as an overview of the entire class as well
as an identification guide. The harder to differentiate groups have line
drawings of the muscle scars superimposed on the picture to help with id.
Color line drawings of the anatomy of each genus is also pictured as are
living examples and habitats.
One of the best volumes I have seen in a while and well worth the
cost. Eric Fritz, North Carolina
