Andrew, for shells larger than 10mm, I use a Nikon Coolpix 990.  Ebay 990's
are very reasonable.  Autofocus is very acceptable.
I us photoshop to reduce image size to 4 inches vertical and resolution from
72 to 400.

I will send a couple of images direct to you.
