Amen!! Like dictionaries...

The modern way seems to be following the German lead (written
language, that is, certainly not cars!). It is a way of avoiding
ambiguity; when two words are used for a term, without hyphenation, it
is often unclear which words go together. Joining the words
German-style avoids this problem.
