Way off the thread: (Apologies to the moderators)
Richard Dawkins also wrote in 'Climbing Mount Improbable' about two other
animals that I know reasonably well from here (Siargao Island, Philippines)

- Syllarus (shovelnosed lobster) that evolved to grow its tail on its head
- Colugo - 'flying lemur' (but not a lemur all - something very different).
They don't fly, they glide, and astonishingly well. I have seen one glide
100 mtrs, and another, carrying its baby underneath, glide for 50 mtrs
